Under the Skin
Under the Skin intends to be a sympathetic
look at the lives of animals and how closely it
is possible to inhabit their psyche.
These photos are all presented in lepidoptery
trays.
Lepidoptery and Taxidermy share similar
qualities to photographs; all three are means
of preservation and deal with frozen moments
in time. Susan Sontag refers to photographs
as 'sublimated murder' and Barthes states
that the act of being photographed 'embalms'
him in that same moment.
